Dr. Steven Johnson graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1985 and completed a general practice residency at West Virginia University. He is a graduate of the Neuromuscular Program at the World Renowned Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. He has been certified for the treatment of Lumineers, Invisalign, and Endodontic Dentistry.
Annandale’s Family Dentistry has been open for 40 years, when it was first started by Dr. John Daniels in 1963. Steven Johnson came into the practice soon after his graduation in 1988 and became a proud servant to Annandale’s dental needs.
Dr. Michael grew up in Northern Virginia. He graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2008. After spending time with his own general dentist, appreciating both the art and science required, he became inspired to pursue a career in dentistry. In 2013, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. To enhance his knowledge and skills after dental school, he completed a one year Advanced Education General Dentistry residency at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).
He continues to take continuing education courses to enrich his interests in restorative, implant and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Michael is an active member of the Spear Faculty Study Club with like minded dentists to broaden his understanding of professional techniques and topics, and to share effective skills and expertise. He is also a standing member of the Pankey Institute, and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Michael is happy to be back on the East Coast near his family and friends and excited to be serving his community. He is thrilled for the opportunity to be working at one of the top dental practices in the Northern Virginia area at Annandale Smiles. His desire is to build lifelong relationships with his patients and help them gain the confidence that comes from a healthy and beautiful smile. Keeping healthy himself, his favorite pastimes revolve around sports including playing basketball, running, and learning to play golf.
Dr. Lynn Alexander is a prosthodontist who completed her residency at the University of Minnesota. During her three years of specialist training, she received comprehensive instruction in implant restorations. She also gained extensive experience in rehabilitating patients with complex restorative and cosmetic needs. Because of this, Dr. Alexander is skilled at treating challenging cases that involve extensive crowns and bridges, implants, and dentures.
After completing her residency, Dr. Alexander moved west to San Francisco, where she practiced at UCSF Faculty Group Practice and served as the director of the pre-doctoral implant program and assistant clinical professor at University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry. During her time there, she won the UCSF Xi Psi Phi Teaching Award and the Admiral Paul Riebe Award for Excellence in Teaching, which is presented annually to an outstanding clinical professor as voted for by the entire student body.
Dr. Alexander is also a spokesperson for the American College of Prosthodontists, which aims to raise awareness about prosthodontics to the public and engage consumer media in educating the public about when to seek the care of a prosthodontist.
Dr. Alexander is a very compassionate dentist who truly enjoys getting to know her patients and establishing an authentic working relationship with them. She strives to put her patients at ease by alleviating their fears about seeing the dentist, and enjoys actively involving them in all phases of their treatment. Dr. Alexander is passionate about educating her patients on the importance of preventive and comprehensive oral healthcare. She is also a big proponent of minimally invasive dentistry.
During her free time, Dr. Alexander enjoys hiking, photography, and exploring new locales with her husband and very mischievous (and feisty!) Labrador retriever puppy.
Dr. Annie Ware grew up in the beautiful beach town of Bradenton, Florida. Starting at a young age, she was interested in the technical and artistic aspect of being a dentist. During her teens, she worked for an Orthodontist which catalyzed her pursuit of a career in dentistry. After high school, she attended the University of South Florida where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. That same year, she began her studies in dentistry in Southern California at Western University of Health Sciences.
After graduating with her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, Dr. Annie Ware moved to Northern Virginia to be near family. She began working near D.C., eventually joining the team in Annandale Smiles in March 2017. She continues expanding her knowledge in dentistry by taking continuing education courses, including Spear Education and by attending seminars.
Outside of work, Dr. Ware enjoys many hobbies, including: cooking, writing, photography, painting and hiking with her lovable Australian Shepherd, Harvey.
Dr. Sanam Kheirieh earned her Doctorate Dental degree from Iran in 2005. She worked as a general dentist for six years. After practicing dentistry and performing research projects, she decided to continue her career in the field of Endodontics. She received her specialty degree in Endodontics from the University of Maryland. She also earned Master degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Maryland.
She continued to expand her knowledge alongside her clinical skills through research projects infield of dentistry and specifically dental materials. Dr. Kheirieh has several publications mainly in the field of Endodontics and almost 500 citations. She has numerous oral and poster presentations at scientific dental meetings.
In 2015, she was awarded the "Sherril Ann Science Endodontic Research Fellowship Award”, for demonstrating exceptional ability in the field of endodontic research. This award was granted for developing “Nanogel-based Scaffold in Endodontics”.
