If you needed braces as a child but didn’t get them, you may have felt as though you dodged a bullet.  Now that you’re an adult though, you may be regretting not having your teeth straightened when you were younger, and of course, the idea of wearing braces an adult probably makes you cringe.

That’s understandable.  In fact, we don’t know of many people who are in love with the idea of wearing a gleaming mouthful of metal for up to two years as the braces slowly do their work.

If that describes you, you’re going to like this article.  The simple truth is that braces have come a long way since you were a kid, and we’ve got two different Alexandria, Va adult orthodontics treatment options available that are much better than conventional braces.  We’ll describe them in detail below:

Our Six Month Smiles Program

As we mentioned at the start, one of the major drawbacks of conventional braces is the fact that they take a very long time to straighten your teeth.  The reason for this is that your back teeth tend to respond very slowly to realignment, and that’s why this is such a great Alexandria, Va adult orthodontics option.

The braces used in this program focus only on your front facing teeth; the ones people see when you smile.  By taking your slow-moving back teeth out of the equation, you can get the smile you’ve always wanted in a fraction of the time.

Even better, these braces closely mimic the natural color of your teeth, which means that they’re not nearly as noticeable as conventional braces.  That gives you a win on two fronts: You won’t have to wear them for very long, and while you’re wearing them, you won’t be nearly as self-conscious.  What’s not to like about that?

Invisalign

This is rapidly becoming our most popular Alexandria, Va adult orthodontics option.  It’s cutting edge technology that doesn’t rely on braces at all, but rather, a series of custom-fitting caps that, when worn in sequence, act to progressively align your teeth.

When you sign up for the program, the first thing we’ll do is take a series of detailed scans of your teeth.

We’ll use these scans to create the caps in a process that takes about a week.  Once we’ve got the caps back from the manufacturer, we’ll ask you to come back into the office for your initial fitting, then check back in every couple of weeks or so, which gives us the opportunity to track your progress and give you the next set of caps when it’s time.

Invisalign caps are virtually invisible, but that’s not the main thing people like about them.  Their biggest advantage is that you can take them out and put them back in yourself, which gives you a level of flexibility that braces of any kind can’t match.

The bottom line is, conventional braces aren’t your only option.  Give us a call today and let’s talk about the possibilities!
